Special Event - Vocations Week

9 February 2015

During the week beginning 9th February the children from St Philip’s took part in Vocations Week.

All of the children had lots of exciting visitors in school to talk about what God had called them to be.

The children were visited by: Nurses, Paramedics, Firefighters, Sister Margaret, Father Erasmus, Construction Company Barratts, a Boxing coach, IT consultant, Librarian and many more!

The week was amazing and the children found hearing from the visitors very interesting.

Nursery and Reception had the Nurses in to talk about the jobs they do when helping others.
Father Erasmus talked about his calling to become a priest and how he help the people in his Parish and at the Hospital Chaplaincy.

Year 1 and 2 had Lindsay in to talk about what it was like working on a large construction site for Barratts right outside the school.
Year 1 also had a firefighter, ICT technician and as you can see, the Librarian come in to speak to them.

Father Erasmus came in to speak to Year 2 about Vocations to the Priesthood.
Year 2 and 3 had a firefighter in to speak to them about the role of a firefighter and his vocation to help others in need.

The Nurses came in to speak to Years 1 and 2 about how we can all keep healthy and why they help others to get well and look after their bodies.
Year 3 and 4 had a talk from the Paramedic.

The Paramedic told us how we can all have a vocation to help those in need.
In Year 4 the Firefighter explained his Vocation to help those in need when they get into a variety of difficult situations.

Year 5 and 6 met Sister Margaret.
