Special Event - Year 3 Visit a Hindu Temple

12 May 2015

On Tuesday 12th May 2015 children in Year 3 visited the Hindu Temple (Balaji Temple) in Tividale.

The children were guided through the different shrines and learned about the Hindu faith, prayer practices and the stories of the different Gods.

A Hindu priest used paste to make a blessing on our foreheads. We asked our guide questions about the ornate decorations in the temple, including a statue of Hanuman the monkey God and we discussed his story.

Later, we entered the Navagraha and Shirdi shrine to observe the cleansing baths of milk and water, and saw the offerings left behind by visitors in the fountain which are given to charities.

We were amazed at the different temple buildings, and saw lots of different statues.
